Seven Oaks Resort

(San Antonio, TX) Located at the 1400 block of Austin Highway, this resort is no longer. Set on 23 acres with its own par three pitch and putt golf course, this once grand motel fell to its true one star rating - playing host to model railroad conventions and UFO conferences.

The Roaring 20's Nightclub

(San Antonio, TX) The Roaring 20's Nightclub. Not much available on the web as far as the history - Nothing easy to find, anyway. The Roaring 20's was a spot that I understand, through the years was a dinner club, dance hall, music venue, a place for private parties. The sign remains and a condemned building - soon to be demolished. Not clear if the sign will remain or not.

Places like this was one of the reasons this site was created. So that after the places (and signs) are long gone..... there is a place to remember what was once a sign of life...

TV Motel

(San Antonio, Texas) Refrigerated air and television? Count me in. Can you imagine - back in the day - this combination must have been powerful enough to pull any sedan off the highway.

This sign located somewhere on the southwest side of town -- Off Old Castroville Highway, I think.

Randy's Rodeo

Randy's Rodeo (San Antonio, TX) It's been a bowling alley, dance hall and bingo parlor, but on January 8, 1978 it was to become a notorius part of the Sex Pistols history. As part of their 7-city (originally 11-city) U.S. Tour. The San Antonio show is well known to be the best show of their short American stint. It was also to signal the beginning of the end of this landmark band.

The Alamo Quarry Landmark Smokestacks

The Alamo Quarry Landmark Smokestacks. (San Antonio, TX). Leftover remnants from The ALAMO CEMENT COMPANY.

The Alamo Cement Company was chartered in 1880 after Englishman William Loyd discovered what he believed to be a natural cement rock near San Antonio. With the help of chemist George H. Olmos Pharmacy

Olmos Pharmacy (San Antonio, Tx) Sure, you can find Pepto-Bismol, aspirin and a myriad of other phar-maceutical needs in this small neighborhood drug store. But it's the lunch counter in back that draws the locals. Plop down on a stool and order a juicy burger or a perfectly prepared BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich with fries. But by all means, order a large chocolate shake. Thick and creamy, they're rumored to be the best in the city and many a patron has agreed. - Yahoo Travel
